Pakistan – Improvement of labour, social and environment standards in the Pakistan textile industry – Implementation of advanced HR strategies in the textile sector of Pakistan
The textile and fashion industry with its major clusters in the province of Punjab is Pakistan’s most important branch of industry. Some 15 million people (around 25% of the workforce) are employed in this sector.
The TextILES project commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development BMZ for three years (2021-2023) serves four main outputs:
- Output 1: Improving cooperation between public and private sector groups of actors to promote social, ecological, and economic sustainability in production;
- Output 2: Strengthening the capacities of the state actors responsible for monitoring compliance with labour and environmental legislation
- Output 3: The supply of business services is increased to strengthen sustainable production.
- Output 4: Increasing/improving employment and employability, especially of returning migrants by the systematic use of sustainable production practices.
This assignment will aim to contribute to the execution of Output 4 of the project, providing support to HR mechanisms in various Pakistani textile enterprises, helping in the elaboration of proper policies and strategies which are in line with personnel development strategy company’s key performance indicators (KPIs).
Main tasks to be performed:
1.Provide regular assistance to the project management and expert team;
2.Fulfil everyday assignments i.e. contributing preparation of the written outputs, reports, logistics, etc.
3.Other activities (details will be provided by Tutor in the interview)
Education: Bachelor Degree/Postgraduate or Master Degree in Project Management studies, Human Resources, Labour related studies, or from a technical background relevant to the assignment (economics, local development studies, TVET)
Experience:
-Fluency in spoken and written English
-Good communication skills, good relational skills with senior officials and administrations;
-Multitasking and capacity to work in a team
